LUANG PHOR SUK
WAT MAKHAMTAO (2390 - 2466)
Past Guru Luang Phor Suk although born in 1847 to this very day he is considered one of Thailand's most sacred and respected monks. He was born in a small township called Makhamatao in Chainat. His Father's name was Nuam who was originally from Ayuttaya his Mother's Thongdee, she came from Thonburi. LP Suk was one of nine children.
In 1857 at the age of 10 Luang Phor Suk's uncle Mr Fang took the young boy to live with him in a kind of step-son relationship, at the age of 18 Mr Fang introduced him to a very beautiful young woman called Sombun by all accounts she was exceedingly attractive, eventually they would marry and have their own son who they called Sun.
It would be 7 years later in 1872 now aged 25 that LP Suk finally entered the monk-hood in fact he was ordained at Wat Po Bang Khan his preceptor or Ubatchar was the highly respected Phra Kru Chey Janthasiri.
After many years of studying Dhamma and advanced levels of Viphassana LP Suk set of alone on Tudong meeting and studying with many great monks learning all kinds of magical Katha spells
and high levels of vicha magic. In fact some say today he was one of a very few band of senior monks who knew the secrets of transformation.
After 15 years on the road LP Suk finally headed home to see his parents his mother cried with happiness upon seeing LP Suk but sadly his father had long since past away. It wasn't long before LP Suk took to the road and found himself in Ayuttaya he came across a very old but dilapidated temple by the name of Wat Uthong soon after with the help of locals around 1891 he established a second temple Wat Paklong-Makhamtao where remained the Abbott till his death in 1923.
Tales of his magical powers and amulets soon grew and it wasn't long before he received a very prestigious visitor infact Prince Krom Luang Chumporn Khedudomsak came to study with LP Suk.
It is said that LP Suk gifted a very special gold and silver Takrut to the young prince. The Takrut - Saam Krasaat - made from gold and silver and etched with Akkhara script was blessed and finally consecrated in a nearby river, in fact this was one of LP Suk's trade-marks most of his amulets were 'blessed' underwater. LP Suk gifted the Takrut Saam Krassat to the prince and it is is written he never made this type of Takrut again. After handing over the Takrut many people told of how LP Suk transformed a Banana Leaf to a Rabbit to convince the young prince of his powers and to take speical care of his now trusted and sacred Takrut.
Genuine LP Suk amulets are rarely offered on today's market but some rien dengs known to be from LP Suk can fetch many thousands of Thai baht.
After remaining the Abbott at Wat Paklong-Makhamtao for many years and sadly aged 76 Luang Phor Suk passed away on 21st January 1923. Luang Phor Suk a true master guru, lets always remember him.
